Job shop’s hard at work at Sunbury library

Falling through the cracks is all too easy when the world as you know it is suddenly different.

For older job seekers, as much as for the young who have little or no workplace experience, finding a job in a changing economy can be difficult.

You need all the help you can get, says Sunbury Job Shop chairman Mick Gibson.

“The ordinary person is OK; they’ve got friends and the skills to know how to present themselves,” Mr Gibson said. “But think about an older tradesperson or a woman getting back into the workforce after children; where do they go?”

The drop-in Job Shop is a recent initiative based at Sunbury library, and it’s open every Wednesday from 2-4pm.
