VTCA: Brown scores 129 as Greenvale stays competitive

Jeremy Brown’s century held Greenvale’s innings together as the visitors posted 271 against Old Mentonians in senior division on Saturday.

Brown went to the wicket at 1-5 and didn’t leave until the score was 238, making 129.

Chinthaka Jayasinghe (45) shared a 61-run partnership for the third wicket, while the best stand of the day came when Brown and Glen Courts (23) added 64 for the seventh wicket.

Brown then claimed a late wicket to leave Old Mentonians’ chase at 1-27.

In north division, Westmeadows faces a tough chase against PEGS, who made 9-279.

Division rival Tullamarine was all out 210 against Williamstown CYMS, who will resume 0-8 at Leo Dineen Reserve on Saturday.

In north A1, Craigieburn captured three early wickets but were frustrated by Leigh Wilson (101), who led Sunshine Druids to 319.
