Bowls Victoria: Broadmeadows on top after big win

Broadmeadows climbed to the top of Saturday Pennant division 2 section 2 with a 32-shot win over Strathmore on Saturday.

Broadmeadows’ 17-96 to 1-64 win and a loss for West Coburg against Clifton Park means Broadmeadows (77 points) now leads the table by 10 from West Coburg (67), with third-placed Lalor well back on 52.

In division 2, section 3, Craigieburn enjoyed a 14-87 to 4-76 win against Lalor-3 that lifted Craigieburn (33 points) into eighth, still 16 off the finals pace of Greensborough (46).

Whittlesea (67) is second but lost ground on ladder leader Hurstbridge (80) after a 4-63.75 to 14-78 loss against Heidelberg Golf.

In premier division, Bundoora RSL beat Yarraville-Footscray by nine shots to take hold of top spot, pending results after the Weekly went to print.

Bundoora RSL won 16-72 to 2-63 with Luke Aiello’s 20-12 win against Jamie Pearce the most one-sided rink.
