VTCA: Greenvale chases down tough Bentleigh scores

Greenvale flexed its muscle in north division with a six-wicket win against Bentleigh, successfully chasing the home team’s 8-290 set the previous weekend.

Jeremy Brown (84) and Matthew Innes (58) shared a 137-run stand for the second wicket to lay the platform before Tarek Moughanie (62) and Chinthaka Jayasinghe (79) powered on with a 108-run stand of their own.

Moughanie fell 11 runs from the target, but Jayasinghe and Andrew Le Page (31) secured victory on the way to 8-381 off the full 80 overs.

In north division, Tullamarine made 165 a winning score against Spotswood as the ball dominated bat.

Liliu Palmer (3-22) was best of the Tulla bowlers as Spotswood was all out for 136 in its first innings at Tullamarine Reserve.

Tulla then stumbled to 89 all out off just 29 overs, leaving the door ajar for a Spotswood outright.

But needing 119 to pull off the win, Spotswood could manage only 5-39 off nine overs before stumps was called. David Zahorodni took 4-23.

At Willowbrook Reserve, Westmeadows (232 and 157) earned a first-innings win against Laverton (143) with Tarique Jeffrey (5-39) and Dominic Bulcock (4-42) best of the Warriors’ bowlers.
