Police have captured a paroled killer who disappeared more than two months ago after failing to meet his release obligations.

Detectives from the Fugitive Taskforce arrested Wayne Leslie Norris, 30, at an address in Broadmeadows on Thursday morning.

He was taken into custody without incident. Detectives thanked the public for their help.

The alarm was raised this month when police warned the public not to attempt to approach the missing parolee, a man with more than 50 convictions, who served time after beating to death a disabled man during a burglary in 2005.

The Adult Parole Board notified Victoria Police that contact with Norris had been lost on August 22, Detective Superintendent Peter De Santo said.

Sweeps of the Warragul, Moe and Wodonga areas, which Norris was known to frequent had failed to find him.

While he was missing, police did not believe he had committed any offences, aside from breaching his parole.

In 2006 Norris was sentenced to nine years in jail for manslaughter, aggravated burglary and theft of a car following a fatal attack on epileptic Lee Bridge, 36.

Mr Bridge was found severely wounded at his Warragul home in February 2005 and died in hospital days later.

An autopsy revealed he had suffered multiple fatal head and neck injuries.

The degree of force required to cause his wounds was “consistent with that sometimes found in motor vehicle accidents”, a pathologist found.

Norris was released on parole in early June, but breached his obligations less than three months later.
