Myki problems, staffing and service delivery issues topped the
list of complaints about public transport from Hume residents in the
first six months this year.
Figures released by the Public Transport Ombudsman (PTO) show
complaints across the state increased by 19.2 per cent to 2381 in the
first half of the year compared with the previous six months.
Sunbury, Broadmeadows and Craigieburn residents lodged 29
complaints. The highest number of complaints from these areas – 20 – were
about the myki system, 10 were about staffing issues and 13 about
service delivery.
Public Transport Users Association president Tony Morton said the
association wasn’t surprised about the rise in the number of complaints.
“Regarding Melbourne’s north in particular, the Sunbury and South Morang lines are increasingly popular but the service frequently doesn’t live up to passenger expectations,” Mr Morton said.
A Public Transport Victoria spokesman said the organisation was working hard to improve customer service.
