Flyaway cockatiel leaves a sorry mate

Cora Calma is terribly upset. Her cockatiel, Butchocoy, flew off the day before Father’s Day and hasn’t been seen since.

The lemon-yellow cockatiel has been with Cora at her Gladstone
Park home for 17 years, about twice as long as a cockatiel is supposed
to live.

The small cocky perched on Cora’s nephew’s shoulder during a visit
and the young man simply forgot and walked outside with the bird still
sitting there.

Butchocoy flew into a tree behind the house across the street and no amount of cajoling would bring him down.

“Then he flew off towards the airport,” Cora said.

Now Cora and her nephew are both in distress while Butchocoy’s
friend, Margo, won’t come down from the kitchen window
without her mate.

Cora lives near the Gladstone Park shopping centre and has been distributing notices far and wide.
