Smorgy’s fire: Police search for man in photo

Victorian detectives have released a photo of a man they are looking for in relation to a fire that destroyed a vacant Smorgy’s restaurant in Bundoora on Sunday.

Police and emergency services were called to the Plenty Road property just before 2.30pm where they found the building already engulfed in flames.

Nearby Bundoora Park was evacuated as a precaution.

While the cause of the fire is not known at this stage, police are treating it as suspicious.

Darebin Crime Investigation Unit detectives are following up on leads after their initial investigations.

They would like to speak to the man who may be able to help investigators or anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the fire.
