TAC Cup: Northern Knights hurt by phantom bell

A PHANTOM final siren cost the Northern Knights a potential
top-four berth in Wangaratta on Saturday as home team Murray Bushrangers
won by three points.

The Knights lost 9.10 (64) to 8.13 (61) but kicked what they believed to be the match-winning goal in the dying seconds.

But the umpires thought differently, wiping out the go-ahead goal
because an umpire blew his whistle in the build-up after mistakenly
believing he heard the siren.
