GET IN CHECKMATE

Develop your chess skills with an interesting and challenging game of chess as part of The Age Library’s chess club. All skill levels are welcome with no bookings required. YOU’RE THE VOICE

Choir group With One Voice is ideal for aspiring singers of all ages and languages. Participants are encouraged to join in with performances and then network over supper. It’s a safe and supportive way to improve your English skills, enhance your abilities and ‘network’. No experience is necessary and new members are welcome. Every Wednesday at The Homestead Community and Learning Centre, 30 Wiltshire Drive, Roxburgh Park, from 6-7.15pm. Cost to attend is by donation (concession card holders are admitted for free).

THROUGH THE LENS

Inspired by lens-based observation Microscopic/Telescopic, showcases Melbourne artists Melinda Capp and Daniel Armstrong’s art practices in multimedia, photo-media and installation. Their sound is inspired by microscopic observations such as plankton and single-cell organisms, and giant stars and galaxies seen through the telescope. The exhibition features porcelain objects, hand-held microscopes and optical instruments for viewing screen-based images and photos. Opens August 21 at Bundoora Homestead Art Centre, 7-27 Snake Gully Road. Open Wednesday to Sunday. Free.

FUN AND FELLOWSHIP

Active retirees are invited to join the Probus Club of Craigieburn for social interaction, activities and friendship. The club has recently formed and welcomes new members. The group meets every Monday from 10.30am at Craigieburn Sporting Club, Craigieburn Road West. Free.
