Volunteers at Whittlesea Community Garden hope to pick up their first accolade after the garden was named as a finalist in two Keep Australia Beautiful award categories.
The garden was selected in the Community Action and Leadership category, and for Community Government Partnerships.
Garden facilitator Megan Smithwick (pictured right with volunteers Keith and Beverly Sutton) says an award would mean success for the whole community.
“A lot of garden members have been involved in various ways. But we’ve also had art created by students and work by Men’s Shed volunteers.”
Winners will be announced at the Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Cities ceremony on July 26.
