Lalor Library will receive a $900,000 upgrade thanks to contributions from state and local governments.
The state government announced on July 3 that it would contribute $300,000 to an existing $600,000 from Whittlesea council.
With 23,000 members and 275,000 visitors each year, Lalor is the most popular of the eight Yarra Plenty Regional libraries.
The funding will go towards a new heating and cooling system, improving the public foyer, seating, signage and the toilets.
Whittlesea mayor Rex Griffin, pictured with MLC Craig Ondarchie and City of Whittlesea councillor Nicola Davis, said the state government’s contribution was much appreciated by the community.
