A man has handed himself into police over the alleged assault of a woman on a South Morang bound train last month.
Police
last week released CCTV footage of a man wanted for questioning over
the alleged indecent assault of a 31-year-old Whittlesea woman about
2pm, Friday, June 21.
Police media officer Kelly Yates said the alleged assault took place between Reservoir and Keon Park stations.
She
said a Thomastown man, 68, presented himself at the Reservoir police
station last Friday and was assisting the transit crime investigation
unit.
In
earlier reports, the man tried to strike up a conversation with the
woman and allegedly touched her feet resting on the seat opposite her
before allegedly indecently assaulting her as she attempted to move
away.
Another passenger challenged the alleged offender before he got off the train at Keon Park station.
