A learner motorcyclist from Doreen has had his bike impounded after hitting 148km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Epping highway patrol officers seized the motorcycle after clocking the teenager speeding on Sunday, June 16, at 12.26pm on the Hume Freeway, Senior Constable Scott Cowan said.
He said the 19-year-old had held his learner’s permit for only two months before he was caught.
The teenager’s green 300cc Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $711 and the youth would be charged on summons with speeding and failing to display his L-plates, he said.
Epping officers also nabbed a drink driver on Grand Boulevard in Craigieburn on Friday, June 14, at 9.15pm.
Senior Constable Meredith Grisold said the driver allegedly did a U-turn when he saw a booze bus and travelled the wrong way, against traffic, before being caught.
The man, who was disqualified from driving, allegedly blew 0.136 and allegedly gave a false name and address, would be charged on summons for various offences, she said.
