Drum roll for Connect call

Students at Thomastown West Primary School drum up a storm at the recent launch of Whittlesea council’s Connect project. The five-year plan will support families through maternal and child health, playgroup, day care and disability inclusion programs. Council’s community services director Russell Hopkins says there’s an emphasis on early intervention and creating strong communities. “Research shows that what happens to children and young people has consequences right through their lives,” he says.

Can of worms

Pick up tips for successful home composting and worm farming. Experts at a free session will teach you how to ensure your worm farm is healthy, what to add to compost, and how to ensure compost is ready for use in the garden. Perfect play for toddlers

It can feel like a challenge to keep toddlers engaged through play. This hands-on workshop will offer parents and early-years educators new ideas to keep toddlers busy. Collector’s corner

Collector Gina Wilson will show her vintage hand-embroidered pieces and discuss what it takes to manage a collection – including locating, acquiring, cataloguing, displaying, storing and maintaining items. Retail marketing 101

This workshop will give retail business owners a structure to create effective marketing solutions to sell products, develop brand loyalty and communicate well with customers. Hit or miss

Seniors’ golf days are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Growling Frog Golf Course. Beginners are welcome. Equipment is available to hire for free. Next session is on Tuesday, June 18, from 8am, at 1910 Donnybrook Road, Yan Yean. Cost is $10 for 18 holes. Bookings are essential through the City of Whittlesea aged and disability department.
