One of the cornerstones of the Melton community is set to celebrate 150 years of worship and friendship.
Melton Uniting Church will mark the occasion with a week-long celebration from December 3-10.
Reverend Paul Blacker said: “We’re celebrating 150 years of a significant ministry within the community. We’ve been able to have some significant impact within the community over time, especially with young people and families.”
The celebratory week will contain Sunday worships, a celebration dinner, a number of guest speakers and different activities.
“We are a community of faith who loves God and sees a significant future for the church as we reach into this growing community,” he said.
The church operates a kindergarten and an opportunity shop. Weekly Sunday services, fellowship opportunity and men’s and women’s groups are among the activities available.
“In celebrating the past, the church also has its eyes firmly fixed on the future,” Rev Blacker said. “We believe that the foundations that have been laid by previous generations are a great gift and legacy for the church.”
