Yan Yean rescue group fights for Charlie

A Yan Yean rescue group is raising money to save the life of a horse that has cancer. The horse’s owners surrendered the nine-year-old appaloosa to the Safe Haven Horse Rescue group because they could not afford chemotherapy. Group spokeswoman Mistiana Williams (pictured at far right with Lyndall Thomson and Ash Jackson) says the horse, Charlie, needs thousands of dollars’ worth of chemotherapy for a tumour under its eyelid. “It’s at least $3000 for the first course, and he may need more. We’re just a volunteer group and need help,” Williams says. “Charlie could live to 30; we have to help him. He’s a gentle thing even with the pain.”
