Mernda driver clocked at 200 km/h on Western Ring Road

A MERNDA man is expected to be charged for allegedly hitting speeds up to 200 km/h on the Western Ring Road last night.

Police impounded his 2006 Mercedes Benz for 28 days and expect to charge the 28-year-old driver on summons, Senior Constable Adam West said.

He said State Highway Patrol officer allege the car was travelling at 200 km/h in the east bound lanes of the Ring Road around 9pm.

“The vehicle was travelling through an 80 km/h zone section of the road and police intercepted the car near the Sydney Road exit,” Senior Constable West said.
