Lalor preschoolers go bush with new all-weather outdoor program

LALOR preschoolers such as Charlie, Matthew and Samantha, are going bush. Jacaranda preschool will run a new bush kinder program this year after a successful pilot program last year.

Teacher Julie Maurdev said it was an all-weather program, with the motto: “There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.”

Bush Kinder is held in Lalor’s historic Westgarthtown Lutheran Reserve.

“The children have the opportunity to play in the rain, roll down grassy mounds, balance along fallen logs, get involved in dramatic play, find insects, draw with sticks in the ground, climb trees and make mud pies,” Ms Maurdev said. “Children use what nature has provided as learning materials.”

Kindergartens across the municipality will have an open night on Thursday, February 28, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Details: whittlesea.vic.gov.au.
