Katerina Anastassiou, of South Morang, and Mary Mrso, of Epping, give a toss about Shrove Tuesday.
They will be among dozens of women competing in the annual ladies’ pancake tossing race held on February 12. Wearing aprons and head scarves, women run 380 metres with a pancake and fry pan at the Flagstaff Gardens on the corner of William and LaTrobe streets, city, at 10am for the chance to win $300.
“Now in its 29th year the Melbourne pancake race is inspired by the original Pancake Day Race held in Olney, Buckinghamshire, since 1445,” race co-ordinator Nicole Jackson says.
