Man fights back after being kidnapped in South Morang

POLICE are searching for a gun-wielding bandit they say kidnapped a South Morang man and demanded money.

The robber forced the man to drive to an ATM at gunpoint, police said.

The victim was returning to his Kinkora Crescent property around 12.30pm on January 18 when the robber jumped the fence from the back yard to the front yard, police said.

The robber demanded to be let into the house and when the victim refused, the criminal pulled out a black handgun and demanded cash, they said.

Police allege the victim said he did not have any money and the man forced him to drive to an ATM, but after driving a short distance the victim pushed the man from his car and the robber fled the scene.

The bandit is Caucasian, 35 to 40-years-old, 185 centimetres with a solid build and collar-length blonde hair.

Whittlesea crime investigation unit detectives are appealing for witnesses.
