Dairy-rich diet study at RMIT Bundoora campus calls for volunteers

RMIT University researchers need people to join a study of the effectiveness of a dairy-rich diet with exercise for healthy weight loss.

Successful volunteers will work with a dietitian, personal trainer and leading researchers at RMIT’s Bundoora campus, and receive free gym membership throughout the 16-week study.

Lead researcher Professor John Hawley, head of the Exercise Metabolism Group in the School of Medical Sciences, said results from the first stage of the study were promising.

“Preliminary results have shown that dairy-rich diets, combined with exercise, enable people to lose fat mass while preserving lean muscle,” he said. “This next phase of the study will examine which diet is most effective in achieving healthy and efficient weight loss.”
