Thomastown’s Bubup Wilam for Early Learning Aboriginal Children and Family Centre is gearing up for a bumper year in 2013.
Education leader Janet McLean says the centre had 45 children during its first year and expects this to increase to 60.
“We have four rooms, one each for babies, toddlers, three to four-year-olds and four to five -year-olds,” Ms McLean says.
The centre, which opened in February, has taken out the Kidsafe 2012 “children’s services” playground design award, recognising excellence and innovation for providing safe and creative playgrounds.
he centre provides Aboriginal families long day care, kindergarten and childcare services, as well as an elders and a women’s group.
