Former Essendon player David Zaharakis is headed to the Northern Football League having signed with Bundoora.

The Bulls announced on their social media on Monday morning that Zaharakis was joining the club.

Zaharakis played 226 games for Essendon, winning the Crichton Medal in 2011 for the club’s best and fairest and the 2013 Anzac Day Medal.

He was delisted by the Bombers at the end of the 2021 season.

“Dave is excited to be able to help the group both on and off the field to help us build on what was a positive year for the club,” the Facebook post said.

Zaharakis is no stranger to the league, having played his juniors at Eltham before being drafted.

The former AFL player is the latest signing for the Bulls. They last week announced the signing of James Condello from rival Macleod.

Danny Younan, who had been combining his time with the Bulls and playing VFL, has committed full time for next season.

The Bulls have already announced a number of key re-signings ahead of the 2022 season.

They include David Mitchell, Ben Young, Jacob Maynes, Peter Hood, Kain Proctor, Kyle Green, Nathan Howard, Nathan Thomas and Brent Marshall.
