Wickets galore in the Money Shield

There were plenty of wickets in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association Money Shield on Saturday.

Just one of the five teams that batted first batted out their overs, as side’s were in action in a two-dayer.

Lower Eltham was the only team to post a total higher than 200, making 8-249 against Montmorency.

Cameron Clayton was the standout with 153 not out, batting throughout the innings.

Lalor Stars Josh Nixon was the star with the ball for his side, taking 8-52 to help restrict Bundoora to just 118.

Prince Singh scored 53 for the Bulls as no other batter passed 20.

Despite the dominant performance with the ball, the Stars are in trouble at the end of day one.

The Stars lost 3-20 to start their innings.

They will resume at 3-29.

Bundoora United is also in trouble in its run chase against Eltham.

Eltham were bowled out for 177 in the 70th over. Matthew Chrimes top scored with 46.

For the Bulldogs, Riley Gaylard was the pick of the bowlers with 4-45.

The Bulldogs lost two quick wickets and a third one fell before stumps, leaving the side at 3-18 off 10 overs.

The battle for a first win for the season for Laurimar and Mernda is proving to be an exciting one.

The Power made 162 as it was bowled out in the 55th over. Jake Zerella top scored with 57 at the top of the order.

The Demons shared the wickets around, with all seven bowlers getting at least one wicket.

It was a disastrous start for the Demons who lost 3-4, before slipping to 5-23.

The Demons will resume at 5-42.

Bailey Lawrenson has three of the Power’s wickets.

Bundoora Park will need quick wickets on day two against Plenty. The Thunderbolts made 158, with Plenty to resume at 0-13.

In the Barclay Shield, Epping’s good bowling continued, this time against Banyule.

The Pingers bowled Banyule out for 142 with Robert Tinsley taking four wickets.

Epping will resume at 0-15.
