Whittlesea will have to make the Northern Football League women’s division 3 grand final the hard way.

The Eagles took on minor premiers North Heidelberg in a semi final with the first grand final spot on the line.

Neither team scored a goal in the opening quarter before the Eagles took the front by two points at the main break.

The Bulldogs while trailing had more scoring shots in the first half, with five to two.

Just one point was scored in the third quarter, leaving the Eagles a point ahead heading into the final quarter.

The Bulldogs finally got their first goal of the game in the final quarter to take the lead.

A second goal was the icing on the cake, with the Bulldogs winning 2.8 (20)-1.1 (7).

Emma Hancy was the goal kicker for the Eagles.

Hayley Osborne and Ashley Fitzpatrick were named the Eagles best.

The Eagles will now face Heidelberg West in the preliminary final after it beat Montmorency 2, 12.8 (80)-0.2 (2).

In division 2, Lower Plenty is through to the grand final while Fitzroy Stars will play Kilmore in the preliminary final.

Diamond Creek womens are the first side through to the division 1 grand final.

St Mary’s will have to beat Montmorency 1 to join them in the grand final.
