Westmeadows claimed its first T20 title with a thumping win against Moonee Valley in the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association T20 competition grand final on Tuesday night.
The Warriors entered the final on the back on some good two-day and one-day form, and that translated into the shorter form of the game with a win never in doubt.
The result was set up early on, with a 100-run opening partnership between skipper Tarek Moughanie and Danny Law. Moughanie was at his destructive best making 65, with 56 of those runs coming in boundaries.
Law made 29.
Clayton Campbell led the middle order, making 34, as the Warriors made 7-163 from its 20 overs.
Moonee Valley was in trouble early on in its innings, losing early wickets to be in trouble at 5-26 after five overs.
The Warriors stuck to the task and didn’t allow Moonee Valley back into the game, bowling them out for 70 with four overs remaining.
Dominic Bulcock took four wickets for the Warriors, with Sathpath Kamburugamuwa and Rhys Gleisner taking two wickets each.
