VTCA called off

The opening round of the Victorian Turf Cricket Association season has been postponed.

The competition was set to kick off this Saturday, but an early call has been made that matches won’t go ahead.

VTCA president Zoran Havranek said the season would now look to kick off a week later.

“I can confirm that this upcoming turf games have been postponed due to many grounds not being available for use due to under prepared wickets,” he said.

“We aim to start next week with weather permitting and ground availability.”

Meanwhile, Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association clubs have until Tuesday night to provide feedback on their grounds.

A decision on whether matches go ahead this weekend is set to be made Wednesday morning.
