Whittlesea City Little Athletics Centre made the most of the sunny weather on Saturday as it held its annual Whittlesea City L.A.C. Plate.
The plate, which has a boy and girl winner, pits the fastest girl and boy over 100 metres from each age group in a handicap event.
It was brother-and-sister duo Divine and Hope Vili from the Tigers Little Athletics Club who took out the boys and girls events respectively.
The day was capped off by visits from Australian international representatives Eleanor Patterson and Brooke Stratton
The centre’s Narelle Cullen said the young athletes enjoyed spending time with their heroes.
“Brooke and Eleanor signed many autographs for our little athletes,” she said.
“The girls were happy to answer many questions and also pose for photos with their fans. Brooke went out and watched the under-10 girls competing at long jump and offered plenty of praise and advice.
“Eleanor watched the under-13 girls compete at high jump and Maddison was especially delighted to have her idol watch her compete at her favourite event.
“It was fantastic to see these two young role models, who are an inspiration to us all, spending time with our athletes.”
