Thrillers and a super over in T20s

Point Cook and Sunshine Heights needed a super over to split them, while Footscray United won a low scoring thriller with Westmeadows in the third round of the Victorian Turf Cricket Association T20 competition.

In group B3, Point Cook got home in a super over against Sunshine Heights.

Heights made 8-133 from its overs with Riyan Bhasin top scoring with 61 at the top of the order.

Shafraz Mohamed took four wickets for the Warriors.

It came down to the final ball and Warriors couldn’t find the winning runs with Chathura Demuni run out.

The Warriors finished 7-133 to send the match to a super over,

Heights finished with 2-1 off its over with Point Cook finishing 0-8.

Also in that group, Laverton beat Point Cook Centrals.

The Sharks made 6–98 with Alex Pritchard top scoring with 24 not out.

Gaurav Kamboj took three wickets.

Harvinder Singh guided Laverton to victory with 65 not out.

Laverton finished 3-101.

Kingsville was the other winner, beating Wyndham Vale.

The Vales made 6-123 from their overs with Trent de Villiers top scoring with 49.

Kingsville made the winning runs with an over to go, finishing 7-124.

Puneet Kapoor top scored with 45.

In group A3, Footscray United won a low scoring thriller with Westmeadows.

The Bulldogs were bowled out for just 63 in the 16th over.

Isaac Heater top scored with 17 at number 10.

Pathum De Mel took three wickets for the Warriors.

The Warriors, who came off their highest score on the weekend, couldn’t keep the momentum going, bowling out for 62.

Heater finished with 5-12 off his four overs.

Elsewhere, Keilor had a big win against Sunbury.

The Blues made 6-176 from their overs with Dimuth Karunarathne top scoring with 96 not out off 48 balls.

Divjot Singh took 2-14 for the Roar.

The Roar’s batting order struggled to get going and it finished 9-98.

The Druids lost to Oak Park St Francis de Sales.

The Saints made 8-168 from their overs, with the Wizards bowled out in the final over for 117.

Sonara Pilippuhewa played a lone hand for the Wizards with 60.

PEGS made it three from three in the group A1.

Facing Airport West St Christophers, PEGS timed its run to perfection getting the winning runs with one ball remaining.

The Eagles made 6-115 from their 20 overs.

PEGS shared the wickets around.

PEGS started well and were in control 135.The wickets then started to fall.

Number nine Spencer Gammon and number 10 Sameera Vithana were able to get the side home, finishing 8-116.

In group A2, Deer Park chased the runs down in the final over against Sunshine United.

The Tigers made 8-114 from their overs with Matthew Sipala top scoring with 32.

Fawad Ahmed took four wickets for the Lions.

The Lions were sitting comfortably at 4-94 before losing wickets.

It would go down to the final over, with the Lions hitting the winning runs with three balls remaining.

The Lions finished 8-118.

Grand United got home against St Albans,

The Saints made 4-116 from their overs with Joshua Hine top scoring with 51 not out off 45 balls.

It was nervous going for the Gorillas for a while after a strong start.

They managed to get home, making 6-117.

Altona North was the other winner on Tuesday night.

Reigning champions Altona North made 5-186 against Newport Digman.

Dylan Achison (70) and Haydn Wilkinson (64) at the top of the order did all the damage.

The Bulls never looked likely to chase down the runs, finishing 9-115.

In group A4, Seddon had a big win against Maribyrnong Park St Marys

The Dockers made 4-134 with opener Jacob Slator top scoring with 75 not out.

The Lions were restricted to 8-87.

Sydenham-Hillside got its first win of the competition, beating Sunshine .

The Crows batted first and made 123 as they were bowled out with seven balls remaining.

Shariq Khan top scored with 41.

Cameron Harding took 4-16 for the Storm.

All the Storm top order made contributions as it made 4-124.

Williamstown Imperials’ good form with the bat continued as they accounted for Yarraville Club.

The Imperials made 3-202, their second score of more than 200 in the tournament.

Andrew Hendry top scored with 83 not out.

Despite some early hitting from Trent Lawford, the Clubbers fell short as they were restricted to 8-140.

Lawford made 61 off 36 balls at the top of the order.

In group B1, Glenroy beat East Keilor, while East Coburg went big against Pascoe Vale Hadfield.

The Greenvale Kangaroos beat Keilor’s second side.

In group B2, Bellbridge proved too strong for St Andrew’s Footscray.

The Bears made 5-161 at the top of the order with 77.

The Saints weren’t able to chase it down, finishing 110. Thomas Stoneham top scored with 33.

Burnside Springs United piled on the runs against West Newport.

Burnside made 4-190 from its overs with West Newport bowled out for 100 in reply.

Barkly St Uniting got home against Werribee Centrals in the final over.

The Centurions made 7-118 from their overs.

The Dragons hit the winning runs with four balls remaining, finishing 4-119.
