The Northern Football League has voted to deny Thomastown’s request to register troubled former AFL player Tarryn Thomas.
Thomas was hoping to restart his football career, after he received an 18-game suspension from the AFL for inappropriate behaviour towards a woman at the start of 2024.
North Melbourne then decided to serve ties with him.
Two state league clubs, one in Victoria and one in Western Australia, had considered adding him to their list this year, before deciding not to.
Northern Football League chief executive Martin Stillman confirmed its league had made the call to prevent Thomas playing.
“The Northern Football Netball League board met to consider an application from Thomastown Football Club for the registration of Tarryn Thomas,” he said.
“After considering all aspects related to this application the board unanimously decided to decline Thomastown’s request for registration of Tarryn Thomas for the 2025 season.”
