Dane Swan is returning to Westmeadows Football Club.

Speaking on radio station Triple M on Tuesday morning, the 2011 Brownlow Medalist said a return to Westmeadows, where he played his junior football, was on the cards.

Swan played at the Tigers, before playing 258 games with Collingwood including the 2010 premiership.

Swan said he missed playing football.

“I’ll probably sign with Westmeadows, my old club,” he said on Triple M.

“It doesn’t mean I’ll play every week, as I’ll be travelling.

“I’ll give something back to them… It’ll be a bit of fun.

“My cousin is going back there, my uncle is on the board and my other cousin plays there.

“I might play one [game] or I might play 10 games, but hopefully it gives them a boost.”

Tigers president Gareth Hanlon confirmed the news that Swan would be playing at the club next year.

He said details around Swan’s return to Westmeadows are expected to be announced later this week, along with a number of other announcements.

“It is very special to have some on come back to the club who started their career at the club,” Hanlon said.

“We’ve been lucky to have a number of players play at the highest level including Corey McKernan, Welshy, [Andrew Welsh] and Swanny and to get one back is massive for the club.”

Hanlan said Swan and new senior coach Grant Smith both went through juniors together and know each other quite well.

With the announcement of Swan returning to the club, Hanlon said they hoped it would attract new players, supporters and sponsors.
