Stars lock in coaches

Lalor Stars have locked in their coaching panel for the Diamond Valley Cricket Association Money Shield season.

Wayne Dow will continue on in the coaching role, but Ricky Mittica has stepped down to concentrate on his own game.

The pair have been co-coaches the past couple of season.

The Stars said that Dow is a true club legend.

“Wayne brings a wealth of experience as a former head coach, batting coach, and Victorian under-22 indoor coach, not to mention a stellar playing career at high levels.

“A proud life member, he’ll oversee training and match day prep, helping drive our playing group to new heights as we build on our club’s momentum.”

The club thanked Mittica saying he had helped guide the club through a tough stretch and laid the foundation for today’s success. They said they were keen for him to continue to score plenty of runs.

Jamie Scott, who was part of the coaching panel last season, will continue to be part of the group this season.

He has taken more than 600 wickets and played in multiple premierships for the club, having played more than 300 games for the club.

“While he’ll be working closely with our developing bowling unit, his recent batting form proves he’s just as valuable with the bat and a perfect example of what dedication at training can achieve.”

Josh Nixon will also be part of the panel again, this time stepping into the role of chairman of selectors.

Nixon is a former coach at the club.

“With a sharp cricket brain and elite communication skills, Josh will lead team selections and be the vital link between players, captains, and coaches, ensuring direction, unity, and transparency across the club,” the Stars said.”
