Here’s a quick look at some of the other sport from across Hume and Whittlesea on the weekend

SOCCER

Whittlesea Ranges returned to the winners list in National Premier League 2 west with a 2-1 victory over St Albans Saints on Saturday. Ranges opened the scoring in the 19th minute through Jordan Brown and doubled their lead in the 85th minute with a goal to George Slefendorfas. A second yellow card saw Ranges’ Andrew Taylor sent from the ground in the 94th minute of the game and the Saints scored from the resulting penalty. The win sees the Ranges move to second on the ladder only a point behind North Geelong Warriors.

NETBALL

Northern Netball League’s dominance of interleague fixtures continued with both their under-19 and senior teams recording wins against Mornington Peninsula Netball League on Saturday. The under-19 team got things underway with a 3723 win and the senior side followed that with an emphatic 68-34 triumph.

BASKETBALL

Craigieburn’s men’s side won a thrilling Big V division 2 match against Collingwood on Saturday night. The two teams couldn’t be split at the final siren and overtime was needed to separate them. The Eagles scored 11 points to seven in overtime to win 81-77. Blake Dickinson topscored with 24, while Kane McNamara scored 23. The women’s division 1 side continued to struggle with their shooting percentage, this time against Latrobe City on Saturday night. The Eagles, who have won only one game for the season, again failed to shoot at more than 30 per cent from the field and were thrashed 86-49. Nicole Cameron topscored for the Eagles with 14 points and Natalie Stewart chipped in with 11.

FOOTBALL

Old Paradians remain without a win in Victorian Amateur Football Association division 1 season after losing a thriller against St Mary’s Salesian on Saturday. Nothing separated the two teams for most of the day, but four goals to three in the final quarter was enough for St Mary’s to get home 9.9 (63)-7.13 (55). In division 3, La Trobe University AFC beat Albert Park 14.17 (101)-8.4 (52).
