South Morang after new coach

South Morang is searching for a new senior football coach after Craig Lambert decided not to seek reappointment.

Lions football manager Mark Muscat said that Lambert had decided he didn’t have the time to continue on in the role at the Northern Football League club.

“His contract was up and unfortunately he decided he didn’t want to reapply of the position,” Muscat said.

“He runs his own business and has young kids, and unfortunately it doesn’t allow him to have the time to be a senior coach.

“He is still a young coach and if the timing is right in the future I think he will make a good senior coach again.”

Lambert spent two years as the senior coach of the Lions.

“He started when we went down from division 2 into division 3 and brought a winning culture back to the club,” Muscat said.

“We’ve played in two preliminary finals in the two years and we can’t thank him enough for the work he has done.

“Unfortunately he didn’t get the reward for effort which he put in.”

Muscat said the club would be looking for an experienced coach to take over the reins.

“We are looking for an experienced coach who knows a little bit about this league.

“They have to help continue on the winning culture. We made three preliminary finals this year, so as a club we are hoping we have got the right formula.”

Muscat said most of the playing list had re-signed and the club was looking at what deficiencies it had to fill.
