It’s season over for both Donnybrook and Roxburgh Park after losses in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association semi finals.

Donnybrook entered the division 5 finals as favours after winning the minor premiership. It was Donnybrook’s first finals in the VTCA.

Facing Sunshine YCW which had beat it outright earlier in the season, Donnybrook batted on day one of the final making 162.

It was bowled out in the 73rd over.

Mohan Singh top scored with 50 before being run out.

The YCW’s started the run chase well and were in control of the game at 1-96.

The tide then turned in the favour of Donnybrook which got itself back into the game with the YCW’s tumbling to 8-139.

From there it was edge of the seat watching, but the YCW’s were able to do enough, finishing 8-164.

Vikram Mandhotra took three wickets for Donnybrook.

The YCW’s will face Seabrook in the grand final.

Meanwhile, in division 4, Roxburgh Park’s finals dreams came to an end against minor premiers Moonee Valley.

The Falcons were bowled out for 143 on day one with skipper Asif Rasool top scoring with 43.

He was the only player to pass 20.

The Falcons needed early wickets to halt Moonee Valley and they were able to get one, bowling Geoff McKeown out for a duck.

That is where the joy ended.

Moonee Valley were able to chase down the runs easily, despite losing two late wickets, finishing 3-144 in 62 overs.

Sohaib Bhutta took three wickets for the Falcons.
