Roxburgh Park’s Saalim Naser was among the winners at the recent Victorian Tennis Awards.
Players, coaches, clubs and officials were recognised at the awards, with the winners now eligible to be nominated for the Australian Tennis Awards.
Naser won the junior athlete award along with Port Melbourne’s Roisin Gilheany, while Jarrod Broadbent won the 30-plus tennis senior award.
Player of the Year was won by John Peers after his most recent efforts of 2022, winning the US Open mixed doubles with partner Storm Sanders and a bronze medal in Tokyo at the Olympics with Ashleigh Barty.
The Coaching Excellence – Development award was won by Michael Logarzo from ML Tennis.
The Most Outstanding Athlete with a Disability award was won by Tokyo Paralympian and four-time grand slam champion, Heath Davidson.
The volunteer achievement award was won by Nadine Maloney from Hawthorn Tennis Club and Excellence in officiating award went to Christopher Dellas.
In the Club Awards, the winner of the Most Outstanding Club or Centre was the Coburg Tennis Club.
In the schools category, Aitken Creek Primary School in Craigieburn won the Most Outstanding School award.
Tennis Victoria chief executive Adam Crameri was thrilled with recognising the award winners and finalists in front of the Victorian tennis community.
