Runs on the board for Bundoora

Bundoora continues to put the runs on the board in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association Money Shield.

The return to two-day cricket has been a favourable one for the Bulls so far, with successive scores of 300-plus.

On Saturday, the Bulls started their two-day match with Laurimar at Yulong Reserve.

Sent in, the Bulls made 9-305 from their 80 overs.

Shupinder Taggar top scored for the Bulls with 78, while Andrew Fairchild and Rubal Singh-Dhillon also got half centuries.

It was a long day with the ball for Nathan Woods, who took 5-105 from his 29 overs.

The battle between Bundoora United and Bundoora Park is evenly poised after day one.

The Bulldogs were bowled out for 156 in the 69th over. Luke Joyce top scored with 56.

Bundoora Park then had to face 11 overs at the end of the day.

It will resume at 2-19.

Mernda’s lower order helped it post a reasonable total against Lower Eltham.

The Demons were in trouble at 6-30 but recovered to make 185, bowled out in the 78th over.

Number 10 Damon Bainbridge top scored with 46 not out.

Lower Eltham survived two overs with no loss and will resume at 0-0.

Lalor Stars need 180 for victory against Montmorency. Montmorency made 7-179 from its overs, with Andreas Jordanidis taking three wickets.

Plenty is 0-10 in reply to Eltham’s 209.

In the Barclay Shield, Epping made 9-221 from its 80 overs against Research Eltham Collegians.

Shaun Barker was the star making 99 before being the last man out.

In other matches, Macleod has already claimed first inning points against Rosebank, Rosanna is 0-18 in reply to North Eltham Wanderers, Diamond Creek is 2-33 in reply to Heidelberg’s 107 and Banyule is 1-14 in reply to Riverside’s 203.
