Rivergum suffered an upset loss to Northern Socials in the North Metro Cricket Association Jika Shield on Saturday.

Socials made 9-181 from their 40 overs with opener Amit Kumar Badwal top scoring with 61.

Corey Altis and Matt Perri took three wickets each for the Kookas.

The Kookas never really got going in their innings.

There were a lot of starts, but no one could go on with it, as they were restricted to 8-105.

Kyl Ewart top scored with 28 at the top of the order.

Despite the loss, the Kookas remain on top of the ladder. The gap has closed though, with just percentage separating them and second placed Preston Baseballers.

In other results, Preston Baseballers beat Heidelberg West, Holy Trinity beat Keon Park and Donash was too strong for Reservoir Cobras.
