Roos fail to bounce back

Its winless start has taken on form for Greenvale Kangaroos, which lost both its Victorian Premier Cricket T20s at the weekend.

It was a tough weekend for the Kangaroos, who struggled with the bat in both matches.

On Saturday at Greenvale Recreation Reserve, the side restricted Prahran to 6-100 off their 20 overs, with Sunam Guatam taking two wickets.

In reply, the Kangaroos fell 17 runs short, making only 9-84. Jack Rhodes was the best of their batsmen with 17; only three players scored more than 10.

On Sunday, the Kangaroos faced Casey-South Melbourne, which entered the game with only one win so far for the season.

Casey-South Melbourne skipper Lachlan Sperling led the recovery after his side found itself as 4-13.

Sperling made 86, supported by Michael Wallace with 41, taking Casey-South Melbourne to 7-164 off its 20 overs.

Aaron Smillie was the best of the bowlers, taking 4-23 off his four overs, including three of the top four batsmen.

The Kangaroos’ innings started in the worst possible way, with Harry Dearden out for a duck.

Adam Amin and Zaheer Hussain managed a partnership of 38, which would prove to be the best of the innings.

Once Hussain was out, Amin struggled to find partners to stick around with him.

After a promising 2-68, the Kangaroos were all out for 114.

Amin made 62 not out, and Hussain was the only other player to reach double figures.

This week, it’s back to the two-day format, with the Kangaroos facing Kingston Hawthorn at Walter Galt Reserve.
