Laurimar has thrown life into the Northern Football League division 2 relegation battle.
The Power have now won its last two games, either side of a division wide bye, to be just two points behind Watsonia at the bottom of the table.
On Saturday, the Power came away with the win against Northcote Park.
It was the Cougars that jumped out of the blocks and kicked the first three goals of the game to lead by 16 points at quarter time.
Once the Power got going it was able to get the game on its terms.
Six goals to two in the second quarter turned the deficit into an eight point half time lead.
That margin was extended to 20 points at the last break.
Both sides struggled to score in the final quarter with the Power kicking the only goal of the quarter to win, 10.9 (69)-6.8 (44).
Kaiden Arthur and Joel Lawson kicked two goals each.
Aidan Clare, Arthur and Cooper Herbert were the Power’s best.
Laurimar faces Panton Hill this week.
Whittlesea and South Morang continued on their winning ways on Saturday.
The Eagles, who are yet to lose a match this season, were pushed by Panton Hill.
While Whittlesea led all day, the margin never blew out in the 8.10 (58)-5.4 (34) win.
Taidhg Bland, Riley Carter and Liam Tyrrell were named the Eagles best.
The Lions were able to account for St Mary’s.
The Lions led throughout the 12.8 (80)-6.8 (44) win. Tye Hall and Nathan Stefanile were their best.
The Eagles remain on top of the ladder, while South Morang sits in third spot.
Thomastown is now six points outside the top five after a loss to Lower Plenty.
Lower Plenty kept Thomastown goalless in the first quarter and were able to keep the lead throughout, winning 8.12 (60)-4.8 (32).
Michael Tabacco was named Thomastown’s best player.
In division 3, Mernda had a solid win against Kilmore, 8.14 (62)-7.2 (44). Kai Turner and Josh Mazzarella were named the Demons best.
Epping did its finals hopes no harm with victory against Heidelberg West.
The Pingers were able to extend the lead in every quarter to win, 12.15 (87)-5.8 (38). Adrian Alfonsi kicked five goals for the Pingers.
Old Paradians were also on the winners list, beating Lalor, 13.17 (95)-3.6 (24).
The Raiders kicked away in the second half with seven goals to none.
The Raiders sit in second spot, the Demons in third and the Pingers in fifth spot.
