Rain again played havoc with cricket in Melbourne’s north-west with several matches of the second round of the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association T20 postponed.
Round two was held on Tuesday night, but half the matches didn’t go ahead due to heavy rain falling on earlier that day.
Point Cook and Moonee Valley made it two from two with victories against Melbourne District and Ascot Vale respectively.
Melbourne District made 7-148 from its overs, with opener Moin Zaman making 56 before retiring hurt.
Point Cook shared the wickets around, with five of the six bowlers taking at least one wicket.
After losing an early wicket, Point Cook got going and hit the winning runs with an over remaining.
Point Cook finished 6-149, with opener Joshua van Zyl top scored with 66.
Moonee Valley proved way too strong for Ascot Vale in a shortened game.
Moonee Valley made 5-179 off 14 overs, before restricting Ascot Vale to 2-69.
Sunshine Heights opened its account with a win against Oak Park.
Oak Park made 6-106 from its overs, with Harsh Parmar taking three wickets for Sunshine Heights.
The Heights quickly set about the run chase, making the runs in 10 overs. They finished 5-107. Neil Hariman finished 28 not out.
Aintree had a big win against Altona Sports.
Aintree piled on the runs, making 6-180 in 15 overs with Gurinder Grewal and Gurwinder Singh both getting half centuries.
Kealba-Green Gully’s match got underway against East Coburg, but ended in a draw. East Coburg made 1-137 when the match was called off.
Maribyrnong Park St Marys and Genesis were the other winners.
The Greenvale Kangaroos, Jacana, Tullamarine, Donnybrook, Roxburgh Park, Sydenham-Hillside, Westmeadows and the Merrifield Panthers were among the teams not to get on the pitch.
Jacana is yet to play a match with both matches washed out so far.
Rain three of the competition is scheduled for December 13, with catch up matches still to be scheduled.
