Two Plenty Valley cricketers have been named in the Cricket Victoria female emerging performance squad for the 2022-23 season.

Aanliya Cheeran and Jasmine Nevins, who are still eligible to play under-19 cricket, have been named in the squad that provides a pathway from Victorian Premier Cricket to the state squad through additional playing and training opportunities.

The squad has been selected from players who have shown strong performances in premier cricket as well as Victorian squad exhibition matches or young players who have performed well in the under-19 emerging players program and Cricket Australia National Championships.

The program offers enhanced training opportunities throughout the pre-season and further match opportunities with and against the Victorian women’s squad over the summer months.

“We’re excited to see the talent coming through and pleased to reward those selected in this squad,” said Cricket Victoria’s head of talent development Dean Russ.

“This program will ensure players are well prepared for the start of the premier cricket season and provide an insight to cricket at the elite level to assist in their development.

“The goal is to provide each player with an experience that will add value to their preparation for the 2022-23 season.”
