Epping Pingnettes hopes of adding another premiership to the cabinet didn’t eventuate in the North Metro Cricket Association women’s competition on Sunday.

The wet weather which had been pounding Melbourne held off enough for the three NMCA women’s grand finals to go ahead.

The Pingettes faced Greensborough in the Lorraine Ireland division 1 B grand final.

Greensborough won the toss and elected to bat.

It lost an early wicket and was soon in trouble at 3-26. Greensborough was able to recover and go on and make 4-119 from its 30 overs.

Skipper Brittany Middleton top scored with 50 not out.

For the Pingettes, Bronte Irvine took 2-16 off her six overs.

The Pingettes also started their innings with an early wicket. The side crumbled to 5-62 with a lot of work ahead of them.

They lost only one more wicket, but the damage was done with the Pingettes restricted to 6-97.

Co-captain Alicia Gorman top scored with 27 not out.

Greensborough’s Sahasra Pulibandla was awarded player of the match. She finished with the figures of 1-7 off six overs.

In the Lorraine Shield A final, Hurstbridge beat Holy Trinity.

Holy Trinity made 9-112 before Hurstbridge finished 2-116 in reply. It was Hurstbrudge’s fourth premiership in two years and its first Lorriane Ireland Shield.

In the Heather Baillie Shield, Olympic Fillies beat North Eltham White.

The premiership is the Fillies first. They are the only team from the competition’s first season nine years ago.
