The Whittlesea Pacers have sent an early message in the Big V men’s division 2 competition.

After a 30 point in round one, the Pacers backed it up on Sunday in round two, with a big win against the Sherbrooke Suns.

The Pacers jumped out of the blocks and led by eight points at quarter time, before increasing that to 15 points at the main break.

The Pacers put their foot down in the third quarter to put the game beyond doubt.

A 38-13 third quarter increased the margin to 40 points heading into the final quarter.

The Pacers gave their bench a bit more of a run in the second half, with every player getting on the court and playing at least eight minutes.

No Pacers player played more than 24 minutes, which was a positive as they could share the load.

While having such a substantial lead the last break, the last quarter would have been slightly disappointing for the Pacers.

The Suns won the final quarter 39-14, to reduce the final margin to 95-80.

Skipper Jason Dirkx top scored with 19 points for the Pacers, while Pat Green scored 16 points and Zac Donoghue contributed 12 points off the bench.

The Pacers this week face Altona on Sunday afternoon.

The Pacers youth league women’s division 2 side had a mixed weekend.

It was heartbreak on Saturday against the Bellarine Storm, losing by one point, 53-52. The Storm came home with a 14-8 final quarter to get the win.

The Pacers bounced back on Sunday, beating the Southern Peninsula, 80-40.

The Pacers youth league men’s side made it two from two on the weekend. The Pacers beat Melton, 103-64 on Saturday night.

Every player hit the scoreboard with Ethan Bateman and David Barron having 20 points each.

The Pacers backed it up with an 81-69 win the following day.
