Old Paradians end Epping’s run

Old Paradians have knocked out reigning premiers Epping out of the Northern Region T20 competition.

The Pingers were stunned by Old Paradians on Tuesday night in their elimination final, with Wolves guest player Donovan Pell stealing the show.

The Pingers elected to bat and made 5-121 from their overs.

Opener Anthony Licovski top scored with 46.

Darren Hodge and Pell took two wickets apiece for the Wolves.

The Wolves got off to a flier with the bat, with premier cricket star Pell, and Jason Berthet, putting on 106 for the opening partnership.

The Wolves would make the runs with three overs to spare, finishing 2-123.

Pell made 77 off 57 balls including seven fours and one six.

Lalor Stars, who were runners-up in 2017-18, are through to the next round after beating Dennis.

The Stars bowled Dennis out for 108, with Riley Scott taking three wickets.

The Stars then powered to the win in just the 12th over.

Aaron Amos made a third straight 50 across all formats, with 79 off just 30 balls. He hit seven sixes and seven fours.

While they might be bottom of the Diamond Valley Cricket Association Barclay Shield, Bundoora is through to the quarter finals beating Research Eltham Collegians.

Bundoora batted first, making 8-168 from their overs. Nicholas Caracella top scored with 53 at the top of the order.

Dean Fisher took three wickets as the Bulls restricted the Collegians to 6-100.

Everyone but the wicketkeeper had a bowl for the Bulls.

Whittlesea’s campaign is over after losing to North Eltham Wanderers.

The Eagles made 8-104 from their overs, with the Wanderers making the runs with two balls remaining.

They finished 6-105.

Bundoora Park is also through to the next round after beating Rosanna.

Set 122 for victory, Bundoora Park made the runs with four balls remaining. Bundoora finished 6-123 with contributions throughout the order.

Eltha, Lower Eltham and Riverside are the other three teams through to the next round.

The qualifying finals will be held on February 4.

Lalor Stars will host Riverside, Bundoora Park plays Lower Eltham, Old Paradians are at home to Eltham and North Eltham Wanderers play Bundoora.
