Narkle joins Essendon’s VFL side

Former Geelong player Quinton Narkle has joined Essendon’s Victorian Football League side for 2023.

The former Geelong midfielder brings a wealth of AFL experience that will be highly influential to the group, having played 41 games across five years at the Cats.

“We are very excited to bring someone in of Narkle’s calibre for the 2023 season,” VFL manager Bernard Shepheard said.

“He is an extremely talented individual and will be an influential member of the group moving forward.”

Narkle himself is ready to settle in at the Hangar and comes in fresh from a full pre-season with the Richmond after trialling as pre-season supplemental selection.

The 25-year-old is excited to join the team and help lead Essendon’s VFL group to success both on and off the field.

“Fortunately, I have had the opportunity to spend time in the AFL system, which I hope will allow me to hit the ground running with the VFL program,” he said.

“I am really excited to get stuck in and get to know all the boys well.

“I am prepared to work hard and provide the group with everything I have got.”

Narkle’s signing will feature the 25-year-old spending time in the admin department, assisting in the Indigenous space, specifically as a new Player Development Manager.

Essendon’s VFL season kicks off on March 26, with the side facing Greater Western Sydney in a round one clash at the NEC Hangar.
