McIntyre steps down at Jacana

Jacana is on the hunt for a new senior coach with Glenn McIntyre deciding to stand down from the role at the Essendon District Football League division 2 club.

The Jaguars in a statement on their social media on Friday, thanked McIntyre for his time since taking on the role at the end of 2019 as the club came out of recess.

The club didn’t win a match in McIntyre’s time at the club.

It said McIntyre had endured one of the most challenging periods of the club’s history.

“Whilst times have been difficult recently, our improvement under Glenn and his coaching team has been,” the post said.

McIntyre said it was an honour and privilege to coach the side where he played a huge part of his football.

“After three years I’ve decided to stand down from the main job,” he said.

“I’d like to thank Frank [Gough] and the committee for believing in my vision for the club, and backing me in 100 per cent.

“Thank you to the coaching staff and players who also bought into my methods. I’m confident this will be beneficial in the years to come.

“I firmly believe it won’t be long until we’re not only competitive for four quarters, but also winning games of footy.

“Our younger players are developing at an astronomical pace and are looking more comfortable at senior level with every game.

“There is much to be enthusiastic about for the future when you consider 70 per cent of our playing list is aged 21 or younger.”

McIntyre also thanked the supporters for sticking with the club during the tough times.

The club will advertise for a coach shortly. They said they would also advertise for a reserves coach..

The club didn’t have reserves this year.
