Late collapse hurts Greenvale Kangaroos

A late order collapse proved costly for Greenvale Kangaroos in Victorian Premier Cricket against Geelong on Saturday.

The Kangaroos looked on track to record their first win of the season, before disaster hit late in the day.

The Kangaroos restricted Geelong to just 142, bowling them out in the second last over.

Humza Ali (2-11 off 10 overs), Sunam Gautam (2-12 off 10 overs) and Zaheer Hussain took two wickets each for the Kangaroos.

The Kangaroos lost two early wickets, but were able to steady the innings and were sitting nicely at 2-82, needing just 61 runs for victory with eight wickets in hand.

Gautam was the next wicket to go and it was the start of a collapse.

The Kangaroos lost 8-41 to be all out for 122. The bottom six batsmen combined for 17 runs in total.

Gautam top scored with 40, while Hussain was the only other batsmen to pass 12, finishing with 28.

The Kangaroos are one of two teams without a win after four rounds.

The Kangaroos this week face Prahran.
