Lalor United falls short

Lalor United fell just short of claiming the overall FFV state league 4 title.

United, who claimed the state league 4 north title weeks ago, won through to the overall final after beating west champions Western Eagles 3-2 last weekend.

It meant they took on south champions Monash University to decide the overall winner.

Taking in a depleted side, United was no match for Monash University, losing 4-1.

Kliment Dimitrieski was the goalscorer for United.

It was a different story for Whittlesea United which added the overall state league 2 title to its haul on Thursday night.

Scores were locked at 3-3 against Doveton before Whittlesea won in a penalty shoot out.

It’s been a big 12 months for Whittlesea, finishing second in state league 3 north-west and earning promotion before this year winning state league 2 north-west and the overall state league 2 title.

Whittlesea will next season be in state league 1 north-west.
